cardigan river & food festival 2012 - 11 & 12 aug
Since it was first held in 1999, Cardigan's River & Food Festival has grown to become one of West Wales' premier events, attracting thousands of people to the town every year to enjoy the food, entertainments, river events and diverse activities.
In the early years the Festival was held on the bridge over the Teifi in front of the Castle, but since it moved to its present location in Quay Street Car Park in 2006 the event has grown and thrived. Now attracting over 70 stallholders the Festival has in recent years sought to focus on food, particularly locally produced good quality produce, by excluding fast food elements and replacing non-food elements with a riverside 'Food Court' for visitors to enjoy their food purchases in a covered seating area by the side of the Teifi.
This year Cardigan River & Food Festival 2012 will be a two-day celebration of the very best local food and entertainment. On Saturday we will as usual have a full programme of river events, cookery demonstrations and live entertainment, as well as activities for children throughout the day.
For the first time in 2012 we will also be open on Sunday with a programme of competitions on the river, in the cookery marquee and on the stage. Also for the first time in 2012 we will be staging an evening of live entertainment on Saturday night, with food and drink available from some of our stallholders.
That's THREE events in 2012 instead of ONE – it promises to be a busy weekend of top quality food, drink and entertainment for everyone. Make sure that you note the dates. See you there!
